Bob Byrns, Camp Director
Here we are with the camp season almost here and we are wearing our winter coats to try and keep warm as we mow. The pool has been pressure washed to remove the winter growth of algae and slime. The mild winter was evidently excellent for frogs because there was an abundant crop in the pool! As the stagnant water was pumped out I even found a small snapping turtle. You never know what “surprises” will be found during pool prep. As the weather
allows, the pool will be patched and painted. We are currently taking enrollment for swim lessons. Many people have been taught to swim at New Hope. lsa Beck heads up the swim lesson program and does an excellent job. She also offers some private classes for adults who would like to learn to swim but
don’t wish to be with the younger kids. Call New Hope at 320-3515 if you would like to be sent the swim lesson packet.
Our buildings are about ready for a busy camp season. There are a few small projects remaining, but all in all we are on schedule. We received our first big food order for the camps. Our food supplier was able to keep prices the same as last year. I didn’t know how the increased fuel cost would effect food costs, but so far so good. Bonnie Sloan is our head cook and provides great tasting and healthy meals. Many times food taste is in the details and Bonnie knows how to season and prepare the food “just right”. Bill Morrison has arrived for the summer. He is a Campers on Mission volunteer who stays busy mowing, welding, and fixing things all summer long. Bill and his wife Faye are greatly appreciated.
Please keep New Hope in your prayers. Pray for us to be able to
provide an environment that will help campers to be open to Gods will. Also pray for us to have a safe summer and be as free from equipment break- downs as possible.
